North Korea’s Cyber Capabilities and Their Implications for International Security

North Korea’s economic and technological backwardness does not seem to allow Pyongyang possess proficient cyberwarfare capabilities. Yet, cyber offensive capabilities are a major security threat in new convergence space called the cyber–physical (CPS) that connects real world virtual world. How has Korea become formidable actor CPS, despite disadvantages? Put differently, what makes global power its disconnect from international society? What motivations behind strengthening recent decades implications do these hold for security? The primary objective of this article is examine analyze their sustainability stability peace on Korean peninsula beyond. By investigating exemplary cases cyberattacks, it seeks explore effective ways manage risks enhanced proficiencies pose current future CPS.
